Okay you might be wondering why I'm online and posting this at umm half past twelve, but I can't sleep and really wanna, umm, blog. here. Yingchen wanted to too, but he's not in blogging mode so I'm going first. So I'm typing as the reserve.
For some reason I was feeling rather nervous, though I'm just a reserve. Dunno why. The intuitive confidence was nearly insignificant, ha. Well, anyway, hanguang was timing. And umm. GREAT job guys [and girl] you did great, especially our famous Best Speaker and hot 3rd speaker [now 2nd]. LOL. I don't know if it's justified, seeing as we got the supposedly pervy adjudictor. Yingchen was pretty pissed he didn't get Best Speaker just 'cos he's a guy. But I guess not. js did say that it was obvious Cair did better in 2nd than Yingchen's 3rd speaker speech.
And I'm feeling really...self-conscious right now. For one, the first sentence I said when I went over for reply, was 'THEY ARE TALKING CRAP!' in a really loud whisper which I'm sure the whole room could hear. I was pretty umm, angry, cos what they were offering were essentially....crap. I couldn't control my facial expressions, ew. Junwei must have thought I was crazy or something, cos whenever he looked at me, the speaker happened to say something particularly ridiculous, and my face would be like, contorted. ew. And I acted really weird when the thingy was announced. plus I kept turning my face to the right, so that i could see the time and js's hand signals. One girl thought I was staring at her and she stared back at me.
At first, the chances were 50-50, and even if we got in, it'd probably be 7th or 8th. So I wasn't hoping for much. I didn't even think we'd have a good chance of getting in.
Infact, I was so distracted that I even thought C Div winners were supposed to be our section. So when the last school was announced, it was all doom and gloom for me. Then suddenly I realised, 'OHYEA shit this isn't our division' and omg, you gotta admit, it was a silver gleam of hope. And when our name was announced, in FIFTH POSITION, I went berserk.
Typical me =.=
Ew, sometimes, I hate myself man.
But what really mattered was, WE GOT IN! And dammit, we got in.
Goshh. I couldn't stay still for approximately the next half hour. Apparently we were the best school who won 2 rounds, credit to our wondrous senors and senoritas. yay ^^
I feel so much like a child. on cloud nine.
PS: Wednesday Hols Training-check email for motion.
Ohya on a side note, c. ELEVEN sec 1s passed auditions. ELEVEN. But their training wouldn't start officially until Term2, cos the teachers haven't passed information onto Ms Yeo. I hope next year, though, we can get sec1s in faster, so that we will have more time to train them. U-14 is in July!
On a more formal note:
Our successful entry into the quarter finals for JGs is the first stepping stone across the river of difficulties which we must overcome. I hereby would like to congratualute my seniors who performed spectacularly for the three preliminary rounds, and whom also sacrificed essential revision for the Common Test in late Febrary, adhered to dietary restrcitions [except for the 2d round, which was accidental], not to mention their skin condition. [for Cair only. I don't mind too much about skin, mostly just zits that I'm worried about.]
Firstly, Yeo Junwei, whose style improved by leaps and bounds since when he first started.
Secondly, Carissa, who put in tremendous effort to keep in mind the various bulks of information our coach and team captain piled upon her, being a supportive role in withstanding my stupidite hysteria, and finally, being a perfect ice princess on the floor. Your F9s weren't in vain.
Thirdly, Yingchen, who did his utmost to refine and hone our speeches, rebuttals, and substantives. Thanks for doing so much for the team and pulling everyone up. (: Sorry you didn't get best speaker. and gg for your L1R5! Considering your didn't even study (:
To our teachers, who kindly provided the finances to fund our celebratory supper at MacDonald's-thanks for arranging the ideation room for us to relax in. Carissa had trouble falling to sleep though, HAHA.
To js, who essentially waited for speeches to turn up, to redraft and refine, brainwashing us with rebuttals, and for printing out all the speeches. [Sometimes I wonder what ink costs your printer occurs.]
On a side note, our deepest regrets to Chung Cheng High, Yishun, for not getting into quarters-we believe they had the potential and that it was an unjustified defeat. [Biased Adjudicator. Ugh.] Good luck for next year, and thanks for your support and encouragement!
Fortunately/unfortunately, St. Patrick's didn't manage to get into quarters. Oof. Good cause then we owned then by getting in when they didn't and Cair has a chance to make a fully informed choice in calling RC an idiot. On the other hand, we wouldn't get a chance to face them again, which means we won't have another chance to whack them on the floor. And Carissa might never see RC again. Sadded.
:D
Anyway, Nanhuadebaters, let's do our best and continue striving to make ourselves known!
